Welcome to Rome, Val!

Val Santana

This evening, Valdanice Santana is arriving in Rome after her first long airplane ride from Salvador.  After Julio, Bigode and Bogus, this lovely young lady is the fourth ICBIE Italian language student to be invited to discover Italy, a guest of our network of friends sprinkled here and there, up and down the boot.  She will be covering a lot of territory, traveling down to Ostuni for Christmas, then a rapid fire tour of the north: Siena, Venice, Bassano, Milan, Verbania, Reggio Emilia, Modena and Ferrara!

Even more wonderful, she will start off her sojourn by giving a three week long samba course in Rome.  The ICBIE Italia office did a great job organizing the course, which will be held at Beba do Samba, a music club in the trendy San Lorenzo area, near Rome University.  You will be hearing more about this club, as they have also kindly agreed to host a benefit evening for the ICBIE on Saturday, December 13th.

Val Samba Poster

Val is going to be a splendid ambassador for the ICBIE.  As a highly distinguished student of Italian, she has taken Marlene’s full cycle of classes, before entering into the endless cycle of Pietro’s advanced studies in Italian culture, but she has also become a bastion of all the Institute’s activities, helping in the office, answering the telephone, signing up new students and befriending all our visitors.  Boa viagem, Val!
