As always, even in the middle of the Bahian summer vacation, there’s still plenty of news coming out of the ICBIE. While most people loll at the beach or prepare for Carnival, Marcella and her fiancé Ivanildo have worked hard to reach important milestones: they were both recognized by the capoeira group led by Mestre Zambi of Pedra Furada. So we now have a bona-fide Capoeirista on the ICBIE staff!
In an impressive ceremony, Marcella received her first belt, conferred by the famous Bahian personality, Tónio Materia, (who, besides being a famous capoeira master and promoter, also had a high-profile career as a singer in the renowned group Olodum), while Ivanildo rose to the fourth level.
Marcella was also given a genuine Bahian name: Libelula! We’re SO PROUD of her!
