Yellow September is a Brazilian suicide prevention campaign, started in 2015. It is an initiative of the Center for the Valorisation of Life (CVV), of the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) and of the Brazilian Association of Psychiatrists (ABP).
This year, the ICBIE, thanks to the initiative of a volunteer, Ravi Lucas, a new graduate in psychology, was the stage for an event in this campaign. The audience, mainly made up of young people and teenagers, participated in the screening of the film “The Benefits of Being Invisible” (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), was followed by a debate with the psychologist Thyale Brizolara, specialized in behavioral disorders.
The debate was animated and different personal experiences of those present were reported, starting with the topics covered in the film, and this provided an opportunity to talk about the reality that we live and that we often do not know.
We believe that this initiative is important for the community, advancing and raising a debate on some topics that are often not discussed and that are still considered as taboo.
It is of great value for the community to host activities for learning through entertainment, to raise discussions and debates through films with the participation of specialists in that specific area.
The ICBIE receives and supports this cause.
