It’s cold. I’m looking at a pallid winter sunset as I affectionately browse through photos and videos of Ribeira and I don’t want to make anyone sad: “the nostalgia for you and for Salvador, too” doesn’t include remorse. You were all great, welcoming me like only a great little community such as yours can do. I will invite all my friends and acquaintances to do as I did, to discover new places and also in a small way, without becoming rhetorical, to re-discover or re-find themselves.
The trip went well, long but fun. Next to me was a woman who carried a life-sized statue of Saint Barbara. After discussing and arguing with the cabin crew, she came aboard with the protecting Saint. A man next to me decided to finish reading a novel through the night, but I managed to sleep and didn’t complain…
On the flight from Madrid to Rome I was surrounded by mothers and crying babies, but also in that occasion, I didn’t grumble…
It must be that Brazil has a strange effect on you, it changes you, at least a little bit.
My friends, I wish all of you a smooth continuation of the festival for ICBIE’s ten years, with the hope of returning to join you and collaborate together: in the meantime I enjoy my Roman walks with a particular smile, which is the most important gift from this fascinating, mysterious and incredible Brazilian land!
