ICBIE hosts an Introductory Course of Photography

From 17 September, ICBIE, in collaboration with the Mandacaru Support Association for Sustainable Social Development, is carrying out an Introduction to Photography course within the Bahia Qualification Program of the Secretariat for Employment, Income, Income and Sport – Setre.

This program aims to qualify young people and adults who are unemployed and looking for new opportunities.

The total workload of the course is 200 hours, of which 40 hours of social training and 160 hours of professional training, with the completion of the course scheduled for 21 November.

The social qualification program was facilitated by the Sociologist Taiala Águilan, who dealt with issues such as the question of Gender, Race, Personal Hygiene, Human Rights, Ethics and Moral, Labor, Social Discrimination and Racial Minorities, among others. To enrich the content of social qualification, we had the participation of Rosalucia Moccia, Italian, a Social Sciences graduate who spoke about the humanitarian crisis of immigrants in Europe, Marcella Sgura, an Environmental Sciences graduate, who addressed the theme of the environment, and the teacher Renato Dorea, a History graduate, then specialized in Linguistic and Literary Studies, who gave a lesson on the production of texts such as required by the editors for the Enem exam, ensuring that everyone is able to produce good texts.

The professional qualification program is held by the professor, Anthropologist and photographer Ismael Silva. The course for pupils, who were very eager to start taking pictures, respected their expectations and even exceeded them, as many say. Dialogue is part of Ismael’s lectures, as well as explanations of his ethical position in the classroom, in relation with the students and photography and also with the “photographed”.

From the beginning of the lessons, there were an average of 25 students who attended the course assiduously, creating strong links with colleagues, with the professor, and with the entire ICBIE team. The lessons are always diversified and dynamic, take place in the classroom, but also out into the Ribeira district, as well as in tourist and typical places, such as São Joaquim or the Pelourinho fair, in exhibitions and museums, such as the caixa Cultural and Pierre Verger gallery. Every day more and more the students showed enthusiasm and inspiration and, when the photos taken before the course were compared with the current ones, the certainty of the path they took was evident.
