To mark the 468th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Salvador on the 29th of March, 1549, we celebrated the historic event with a meeting held in ICBIE’s ME.PE (Peninsula Memories museum) together with a class of students from the Maria José school, located in the Areal/Mangueira district of the Itapagipe peninsula. Accompanied by two teachers, the students visited our permanent museum of photos, videos, books, magazines, newspapers and objects regarding the history of the beautiful and ancient peninsula of Salvador, underlining its importance for the arts, economy, labor, culture and sports. They were greeted by Raquel, Marlene and Pietro. After the explanations given about the various moments of splendor and glory of our mythical peninsula, the enthusiastic students and teachers, happy to have discovered so many secrets of their territory, promised to return with other classes of the same school.
