Exposition, Bazaar and Music, by Gê Santos

A testimonial by Gê Santos, one of the singers who performed at the Second EBM at the ICBIE.

The Place ...
Upon entering, the hallways smelled of fresh paint, and I felt like I could almost see a dazzling rainbow on the hands of artists. As the colors dripped down on the rags, bags and shirts, everything was art and it exuded through the pores of the cloth, the sleeves and straps. I saw paintings that spoke of a little of everything, landscapes, childhood cartoon freedom, colors, hair. On the white wall, slides flashed pictures, culture everywhere, full of hopes for the best, a history, an exchange of ideas, information and joy. The street was not the same, the sound that came from that big house with large flags gave movement and life to the place. The music went beyond barriers, it lurked on the street corner, waiting for the ear of a curious someone, to awaken the heart of the bystanders.

There were refreshments, cameras flashing everywhere, conversations in every corner, voices mingled with the lyrics of the songs. Voices and songs, a note, a conversation, a cry of joy . People jumped as if they could reach the sky, without success, but joy hovered over the place.

Nothing was lost, people were rejuvenated, the old songs born anew on stage, the instruments, the voices, together with pieces of clothing and artifacts, everything recycled.  In the bazaar, everything smelled like a new story, clothes eager to absorb a new scent, and suddenly, what someone no longer needed fits another person to a tee.

Lights everywhere, people released their true characters and donated all their joy in seconds and fast scenes. Suddenly, it was art mixed with reality, or art turning into reality, the “old” that rejuvenated, people became other people, characters or not, history turned, drawing smiles like a thoroughly uninhibited, bold bandit, showing the audience what is best in each one.

This is place where I felt welcomed by the people and where I could spread my truth through the sound of my voice, and at the same time, where I received in exchange various lessons and a sample of other talents. Thank you to all the organizers who provided the space, believing in and solidifying this idea, making this project a success. It is my heartfelt hope that this will survive for years and years, as long as there is art and people who can appreciate it, there will be unforgettable moments like these that the EBM provides us with every year.
Musically speaking, I am honored to participate in this event, and also as a person because every year my talents only continue to grow.

This is the EBM, a parallel world, an alternative place where people meet to transform and change the world together, to discover new things, to share art, leaving the mark of his paints on shirts and in the hearts of us all . An ink spot that does not come out of the shirt, a single moment that sticks in memory.
