We have arrived at the conclusion of another year of ICBIE activities: it is the time to celebrate with volunteers, friends, supporters and fellow associations that have helped to make our Institute a cultural reference point for the Itapagipe peninsula, facilitating the realization of courses and events for art, sports and languages for students of the local community and the city of Salvador in general.
To close this year of 2016, the ICBIE united three events: the fifth edition of the EBM, the end of year activities of our courses, and the fourth Italian festival. Despite the scarcity of personal and of funds at our disposal, we were able to produce a three day long multicultural festival, covering all the artistic idioms.
Diverse attractions characterized the three days of events (beginning on the 9th of Dicember and ending on the 11th)
With the presentation of the students of the guitar course directed by Eduardo Brandão, the conclusion of the laboratory of theatrical improvisation led by the Italian actress Federica Castellano and an exhibition of the capoeira performers of the Unicar group, the first day of events provided a lively summary of our work.
Saturday the 10th was centered upon the EBM (Exposition, Bazaar and Music), curated by our collaborators Jean, Meg and Marjorie. This included the participation of DJs and also various presentations (music, dance and theater), and exhibitions of drawings and of mandalas.
A multitude of events characterized Sunday the 11th: an exhibition of plastic arts by artists from Salvador, an encounter with the students in the Italian and English courses, laboratories of mandala and of personalization of used clothing, an auction of wines with the reading of appropriate poems, the second edition of the Leonardo Prizes, and, in conclusion, a lot of music. We had the honour of being able to count on the presence of Anna Clementi and the ICBIE musical group composed of Eduardo, Marlene and Gessica.
In this way, another year rich in activities was celebrated, and we hope to build on this commitment for the now immanent 2017, with help from all of you!
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
