L´ICBIE AND L´UFBA IN ACTION FOR THE EDUCATION OF THE PEDESTRIAN IN TRAFFIC
In this semester 2019.1 the ICBIE has become partner of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) in the realization of an ACCS – Curricular action in community and society, a discipline proposed in the Higher Course in Terrestrial Transport Technology of the Polytechnic School by professors Denise Ribeiro and Marcella S. Viana in collaboration with the Institute of Psychology through Professor Fabricio de Souza. The aim of this activity, whose title is Traffic: Psychology, Education and Citizenship, is to bring UFBA students to dialogue with the students of a secondary school, in this case the school Paulo Américo in Ribeira, to raise awareness among young people on issues of safety and education in traffic and in particular reflect on the role of human behavior. The university discipline, besides having Marcella in the double role of UFBA professor and ICBIE collaborator, also has Luque Henry, our beloved collaborator and dancer, who, as UFBA student, was chosen to help in the activities as a trainee with scholarship.
The first meeting between the young people of the UFBA and the young people of the school was held on Friday, April 26th, in the same school where the idea of the discipline was presented and last Friday, May 3rd, they met again at the ICBIE to organize the practical activity that will consist in relating through photos and videos the reality of the streets where the students of the school walk daily with respect to the issues of pedestrian safety. The meeting, quite productive, was also attended by TRANSALVADOR, a public body that manages traffic for the Municipality of Salvador, with a short seminar on the rights and duties of the pedestrian.
After the activities in the field, there will be 2 or 3 more meetings at the ICBIE to organize the material collected and the closure of the activities will take place, always in our association, on June 14 to present the video and photographic material produced and the final report that will be delivered to TRANSALVADOR.
The ICBIE believes in the importance of this action for the training of young people with civic awareness and respect for the rights of others.
