We owe all our faithful followers an apology for our Blog’s long silence, which is not caused by a lack of activity here, but from the opposite. It has been a richly rewarding time, filled with activities, great courses and a lot of outreach to our local community, creating a heavy workload for all of us, one that has made it impossible to chronicle properly, at a time when our own lives are evolving. Marcella has finished her thesis and has received her doctorate from the Federal University, where she will soon begin teaching, as a full professor. We are very proud of her accomplishments and wish her the best in her new career, while she continues to lead as ICBIE president. Pietro is currently in Europe, rallying the ICBIE Europa ONLUS, moving the paperwork for his Italian pension, and organizing an exhibition of D’Artagnan artworks in Frankfurt next year. I am finishing my two-year contract at the Pan American School of Bahia, while my house is being built next to the ICBIE, after years of waiting. Amidst the confusion, Marlene has been the one solid point of reference for all of our current operations.
Nonetheless, we promise to provide you with a series of short articles, showing the highlights of the first trimester of this year.
It seemed appropriate to use a picture from last Friday’s theater performance, as the cover photo for this article.
