Arrivederci Salvador

The time has come to salute our departing volunteers, Alberto Mariani, Giulia Soffiantini and Sage Rahm, who, with great diligence, have held courses in the German, French and English languages.

Before they left, I asked them a few questions.

– What are your personal impressions regarding your experience at the ICBIE?

Giulia: I carved out some free time to help people, testing my generosity, and I was almost always rewarded with gratitude from both the students and the directors.

Alberto: human values, humility, affection and generosity from everyone.

Sage: the ICBIE is a pro-active community that works together, sharing the talents of every individual and helping the local community to grow and to express itself.

– What, instead, are you professional impressions?

Alberto e Giulia: as translators, we benefitted from the contact with authentic Brazilian culture, acquiring a greater command of the Portuguese language and building an interactive rapport with the students, different from the traditional educational methods.

Sage: as a future medical doctor, I managed to communicate concepts such as nutrition and wellness, using a different language.

– Are you planning to return?

Alberto, Giulia and Sage: We hope so.  For three months, it will not be easy, because of work, but for a vacation, for sure!
