LeiturArte Closing Event

The Itapagipe Peninsula Salutes the LeiturArte Itapagipe Project

A Multicultural Event Marks the End of the Season.

Last Saturday, May 30th, the ICBIE completed the season of LeiturArte Itapagipe. The project, lasting for five months, was planned last year as part of the Arte em Toda Parte, Second Year, of the Gregorio de Mattos Foundation of the City of Salvador. Activated in 2015, the project promoted diverse cultural events, involving the community of the Itapagipe peninsula.

In this final event, to close the season, the Little Theater Company presented a dramatic reading of the winning works of the literary competition which were published in the Anthology that, for the occasion, was awarded to the winners of the competition. Other copies of the Anthology were given to members of the audience as lottery prizes.  Following the traditions of the Institute, the event was multicultural, and in the outside area there was a show of popular dance from southern Italy, presented by the dancer Marcella Bomba. In addition the time was also right to celebrate the birthday of ICBIE President Marcella, when refreshments were offered.

And to close the event the chorinho Brazucas Trio, with the participation of ICBIE Vice President Marlene Rosa, enlivened the evening with lots of music.
