Continuing a cherished springtime tradition that spans back seven years now, the ICBIE is putting on another great event in Rome. This Saturday, May 26th, we will take over the newly refurbished Blow Up River Café, which is located on a big barge on the Tiber in the city center, just upstream from the Palace of Justice (“Palazzaccio“) on the Vatican side of the river under Lungotevere dei Mellini, 7.
The fun will begin at 5 PM with a series of workshops: Luigi Ferracci will lead a session of Brazilian percussion and fill the air with the sounds of pandeiros, cuicas and guiros; Emanuela Cagnoni will introduce the exotic art of “belly samba”; our friend Sidney Santos (“Tubarão”) will direct a capoeira lesson; and, in order to encourage entire families to participate, our own Silvia Stoppani and Marcella Sgura will conduct a workshop for children in the construction of musical instruments from recycled materials! If possible, we request that you reserve your place by contacting the leaders by Thursday. The adult workshops cost €10, while the childrens’ session will be free of charge.
Starting at 7 PM there will be food and refreshments, for the modest price of €8.
At 10 PM the musical entertainment will begin with a performance by the Icbiest@s, comprising Tiziana de Angelis (voice), Roberto Mazzoli (guitar), Luigi Ferracci (percussion), Gabriele Barettin (piano) and Eduardo Santos (drums), followed by a jam session and, for the nighthawks, a DJ set by our faithful Damiano.
Of course the best thing will be seeing all our great friends together, once again!
