One of this year’s finest Brazilian films will be shown at tomorrow’s ICBIE Cineforum.\u00a0 Based upon a 1959 short story by Jorge Amado, the film is set in the city of Salvador and recounts a surreal story about a man who dies quietly in bed and then his friends decide to take him to a wild party with lots of drinking, so he can die a second time, in a more exciting way.\u00a0 The title of the film, Quincas Berro D’\u00e1gua<\/em>, has been translated literally into English, even though it sounds ridiculous, but uses the longer title of Amado’s book: The Two Deaths of Quincas Wateryell<\/em> (A Morte e a Morte de Quincas Berro D’\u00e1gua<\/em>).\u00a0 As a special attraction, one of the actors in the film will be present at the projection!<\/p>\n

Salvador. Quincas (Paulo Jos\u00e9) \u00e9 um funcion\u00e1rio p\u00fablico cansado da vida que leva. Um dia ele resolve deixar sua fam\u00edlia de lado e cair na farra, ganhando fama como Quincas Berro D’\u00c1gua, o rei dos vagabundos. Quando ele \u00e9 encontrado morto em seu quarto, sua fam\u00edlia resolve apagar os vest\u00edgios de sua fase arruaceira e lhe dar um enterro respeit\u00e1vel. S\u00f3 que seus amigos surgem no local e decidem lev\u00e1-lo para uma \u00faltima farra.<\/p>\n
