Arrivederci ragazzi!

Bigode & Julio - Last night in Rome

Look at the Brazilians all bundled up against the cold of early November in Rome, on their last night before returning home. Last Friday night, nearly twenty people showed up at a genuine Roman pizzeria, da Giovanni, right across the highway from the Socrates high school in Garbatella where Pietro taught for so many years.

Julio and Bigode were in great form, after their totally successful Italian expedition, and all their Italian friends were genuinely sad to see them go. During the final days, they painted big murals on Pina Madonna’s terrace, a very familiar hideout for the whole Roman ICBIE family, and they also improvised a banner that will be hung on the wall of our future Rome office.

To top off the evening, the party moved to the Factory, the site of last month’s benefit evening.  The happy dancing was tinged with nostalgia, saudade.

We all wish the boys every success. After all the Italian art and culture that they absorbed, we’re curious to see what impact it will have on their future creations. They certainly were wonderful ambassadors for the ICBIE during their stay in Italy, and their travels helped to unify our Italian community of friends like never before.

(Many thanks to Monica Bernardi for the great photos!)
