Without the help that we receive from ARCI, for example, we would not have had the resources to build and operate our computer lab and, thanks to the generosity of the American Overseas School of Rome, we can offer Geisiel\u2019s immensely successful drawing courses. In order to gather our forces in Italy, ICBIE Europe was founded as an official Italian NGO, and as soon as the Italian government gets around to paying our 0.5% share of our friends\u2019 tax returns, we will have a solid font of income.<\/p>\n<p>For the last four years, we have attempted to coerce our American friends to create a parallel NGO in the United States, but, until now, the formidable bureaucratic obstacles of such a venture proved to be stronger than the resolve of our supporters. This has caused us to lose important donations, because in the States people expect to write them off on their taxes, and without a registered organization, that is impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, last spring the ICBIE\u2019s proverbial good luck kicked in. Out of the blue, an amazing email from an AOSR graduate (Class of 2001) named Ariell Kirylo announced her intention of founding an American NGO to support the ICBIE. From that moment, she has raced forward, sprinting over all the legal hurdles in record time, forming a Board of Trustees, registering her new organization in Alexandria, Virginia and completing the paperwork as an official 501(c)3. Through this complicated process she was guided by her mentor, Gety Mpanu-Mpanu, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo and former chairman of the Organization NDWENGA for the Education of the People (ONEP) (<a href=\"http:\/\/csndwenga.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/csndwenga.org\/<\/a>), working in Kinshasa, who graciously consented to join with Ariell, taking on the chairmanship of the new organization, IMA Generation (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imageneration.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.imageneration.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>IMA (which stands for \u201cInspire, Motivate, Act\u201d) has for mission \u201cto make schools in poverty-stricken regions of the world the source of social, cultural and economic growth for their local communities\u201d and will begin by supporting ICBIE and NDWENGA, as well as initiating an exciting program of youth activities in Alexandria. E\u2019 piombato dal cielo una stupefacente mail di una alunna formatasi alla AOSR (classe 2001), di nome Ariell Kirylo, che annunciava la sua intenzione di fondare una ONG Americana per sostenere l&#8217;ICBIE. Da quel momento, Ariell ha cominciato la sua corsa, superando tutti gli ostacoli giuridici a tempo di record, costituendo um Consiglio di Amministrazione, registrando la sua nuova organizzazione ad Alexandria, Virginia e completando la prattica per diventare un ufficiale ente 501(c)3 non-profit per le tasse americane.
