After J\u00falio, Bigode and Bogus, the ICBIE finally sent a girl student to Europe.\u00a0 Valdenice Santana spent two months in Italy and Spain, and she returned to Salvador last Sunday.\u00a0 Here is a note that she wrote, recounting her experiences in Italy.\u00a0 (Hopefully, she will soon<\/em> add her thoughts about Spain, too!)<\/em>\u00a0 Italian and English translations are provided below.

Antes de falar sobre a minha experiencia na Italia, quero agradecer a\u00a0 todos que colaboraram para que isso acontecesse. Foi muito bom reencontrar os amigos e conhecer novas pessoas.<\/p>\n

A minha chegada foi muito tranquila. Nao tive nenhum tipo de problema no aeroporto, muito pelo contrario, as pessoas foram muito simpaticas e dispostas a me ajudar. Em Fiumicino fui recebida por Marcella e Loona, que foram muito presentes na minha estadia em Roma.\u00a0 As aulas de samba foram divertidas. Fiquei muito feliz em ver os alunos fazendo os passos coreografados. Divertir-me tambem na festa do ICBIE ao som do\u00a0 grupo\u00a0 italiano que tocava musica brasileira.
\nNas caminhadas pelas ruas romanas pude observar o dia a dia nao so dos italianos mas tambem dos estrangeiros que mercavam seus produtos e algumas vezes tentavam acertar a minha nacionalidade sem muita sorte. Falando em estrangeiros na Italia, fui levada por Loona a um lugar latino muito particular, cheio de latinos que dancavam os mais variados tipos de musica (salsa, merengue , bachata\u2026).<\/p>\n

Depois de 3 semanas em Roma, dei inicio ao meu giro pela Italia. Passei Natal em Ostuni, a cidade branca. Fui a Pescara encontrar-me com Giovanna que me levou para esquiar. Enfrentei o frio em Rimini na casa de Cinzia, passamos o ano novo em uma festa da Rai Uno na praca. Passei por Modena, Veneza, Treviso, Bassano del Grapa, Marostica, Vicenzo, Ferrara, Pisa, Luca e Firenze. Gostaria de ressaltar a beleza de Bassano del Grapa, que por ser uma cidade pequena nao esperava que fosse uma cidade tao bonita. Fiquei enamorada por Bassano.<\/p>\n

Cada cidade tem a sua particularidade, mas o que mais me marcou foi a simpatia das pessoas que encontrei nessa caminhada. Tive a sorte de encontrar pessoas que eram gentis, seja para da uma informacao, ou para um bate papo no trem. Trago comigo, da Italia, cada sorriso que me foi oferecido.<\/p>\n

Prima di parlare della mia esperienza in Italia desidero ringraziare tutti quelli che hanno reso possibile che questo accadesse. E\u2019 stato molto bello rincontrare gli amici e conoscere nuove persone.<\/p>\n

Il mio arrivo \u00e8 stato molto tranquillo. Non ho avuto nessun tipo di problema in aeroporto, ed anzi le persone sono state tutte molto gentili e disponibili ad aiutarmi. A Fiumicino sono stata accolta da Marcella e Loona che sono state molto presenti nella mia permanenza a Roma. Le lezioni di samba sono state molto divertenti. Sono stata felice di osservare i miei alunni mentre eseguivano i passi coreografici. E mi sono divertita molto anche alla festa dell\u2019ICBIE ascoltando il gruppo italiano che suonava musica brasiliana.<\/p>\n

Durante le passeggiate per le vie romane ho potuto osservare la vita quotidiana non solo degli italiani ma anche degli stranieri che vendevano i loro prodotti ed alcune volte tentavano di indovinare la mia nazionalit\u00e0 senza molta fortuna. E a proposito di stranieri in Italia, Loona mi ha portata in un locale molto particolare, pieno di \u201clatini\u201d che ballavano il pi\u00f9 variegato tipo di musica (salsa merengue, bachata\u2026)
\nDopo 3 settimane a Roma, ho iniziato il mio tour dell\u2019Italia. Ho trascorso il Natale ad Ostuni, la Citt\u00e0 Bianca. Sono stata a Pescara e ho incontrato Giovanna che mi ha portata a sciare. Ho affrontato il freddo a Rimini in casa di Cinzia e abbiamo trascorso il Capodanno in una festa di Rai Uno in piazza. Poi sono passata per Modena, Venezia, Treviso, Bassano del Grappa, Marostica, Vicenza, Ferrara, Pisa, Lucca e Firenze. Mi piacerebbe sottolineare la bellezza di Bassano del Grappa, che essendo una cittadina cosi piccola non avrei pensato che potesse essere tanto bella. Mi sono innamorata di Bassano.<\/p>\n

Ogni citt\u00e0 ha la sua particolarit\u00e0, ma ci\u00f2 che pi\u00f9 mi ha colpito \u00e8 stata la simpatia delle persone che ho incontrato durante il mio viaggio. Ho avuto la fortuna di incontrare persone gentili sia se si trattava di darmi un\u2019informazione sia per una chiacchierata nel treno.<\/p>\n

Porto con me dall\u2019Italia ogni sorriso che mi \u00e8 stato donato.<\/p>\n

Before I speak of my experiences in Italy, I would like to thank everyone who made my trip possible.\u00a0 It has been marvellous seeing friends and meeting new people.<\/p>\n

My arrival was really smooth.\u00a0 I didn’t have even the tiniest difficulty at the airpost, and instead, everyone was very kind and very helpful.\u00a0 At Fiumicino I was met by Marcella and Loona, who looked after me during my stay in Rome.\u00a0 The samba lessons were a lot of fun.\u00a0 I was delighted to be able to watch my students while they executed the steps of the choreography.\u00a0 And I had a great time at the ICBIE party, listening to the Italian group that played Brazilian music.<\/p>\n

During my walks through the Roman streets, I was able to observe the daily life of not only Italians, but also of the foreigners, and a few times they tried to guess my nationality, but without much success.\u00a0 And on the subject of foreigners, Loona took me to a really special place, full of “Latins” who danced in many different styles (salsa, merengue, bachata…)<\/p>\n

After three weeks in Rome, I started my tour of Italy.\u00a0 I spent Christmas in Ostuni, the white city.\u00a0 I went to Pescara and I met Giovanna, who took me skiing.\u00a0 I survived the cold in Rimini at Cinzia’s house and we spent New Year’s Eve together at a street party given by RAI TV.\u00a0 Then I visited Modena, Venice, Treviso, Bassano del Grappa, Marostica, Vicenza, Ferrara, Pisa, Lucca and Florence. I would like to emphasize the beauty of Bassano del Grappa; being such a tiny town, I never would have thought that it could be so very beautiful.\u00a0 I fell in love with Bassano.<\/p>\n

Every city has it particularities, but what impressed me the most was the friendliness of all the people that I met during my journey.\u00a0 I had the good fortune of meeting nice people, whether I was asking them for directions or simply having a casual conversation during a train ride.<\/p>\n
