Last night’s AperiSAMBA party brought together another big crowd of Roman ICBIE supporters. It’s wonderful to see so many people faithfully coming out for our cause, but the best part is seeing all the joyous revelry that ensues, as the excellent musicians get their bossa nova rhythms swinging and the caipirinhas begin to flow. Infinite thanks go to the very special people at the Beba do Samba and to our own indomitable ICBIE Europa organizers: Loona, Paulinho, Roberto and Damiano, in particular.
Because Roberto had just celebrated his birthday on Monday, later in the evening a surprise cake arrived and yet another glass was drained. His smile in the picture above seems somehow to perfectly capture the spirit of last night’s great party.
Of course yesterday was marked by another large student demonstration, and many of the people at the party had spent the entire day marching and chanting during the peaceful but determined parade through the peripheral working-class quarters of the city.
