The World Day of Cleanliness and \u201cMosquito Go\u201d at the ICBIE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Friday morning, 14. September, was dedicated to raising awareness on problem of dirt and the spread of the mosquito Aedes Aegypt, which causes various diseases.<\/p>\n

It was a double event, as we had a visit from the scientist, researcher and professor Ren\u00e9e Codsi, who presented her project “Mosquito Go,\u201d and we welcomed about 24 pupils of the sixth year of the Maria Jos\u00e9 Public School, as their way of observing the world day of cleaning.<\/p>\n

“Mosquito Go” is a project sponsored by NASA, whose goal is to map the reproduction sites of the mosquito Aedes Aegypt, creating “scientist citizens”.<\/p>\n

The World Cleaning Day is officially celebrated on September 15th and was born in Est\u00f4nia in 2008 when, a group of citizens, decided to clean their country. Having achieved great success in the following years, other countries followed the example and the wave of cleanliness began, now in 2018, Brazil has finally entered this movement.<\/p>\n

To introduce Ren\u00e9e’s presentation, we relied on the collaboration of Meg Boaventura and Rosalucia Moccia who showed some videos, promoting a small debate and questions with the aim of raising awareness on the problem of garbage, focusing on what it is now and what it will be for future generations, especially as the situation will get worse if we do not start doing small actions to reduce the damage. Ren\u00e9e continued with slides, photos, videos, games and quizzes, speaking on the Aedes Aegypt mosquito, which causes various diseases such as dengue, Zika, malaria, yellow fever and chikungunya.
\nAt the end of the presentation, some mini microscopes for mobile phones were raffled off, through a game, to encourage new “citizen scientists”.<\/p>\n

It was a Friday morning that enriched and emphasized the importance of a cleaner country.<\/p>\n
