Tonight’s Cineforum will present a farcical German film that focuses on the changes in East Germany after the fall of Communism through the story of a fervent hardliner who has a heart attack after seeing her son participating in protest demonstration.\u00a0 She falls into a coma, waking up only after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the doctors advise her family to avoid exciting her, so they have to pretend that the old regime is still in power, while she recovers.<\/em><\/p>\n

And thankfully, for once, this film title translates faithfully in Italian, Portuguese and English1!<\/em><\/p>\n

Um pouco sobre o filme…A\u00a0m\u00e3e\u00a0de Alexander, fiel devota do socialismo na antiga Alemanha Oriental, tem um ataque card\u00edaco ao ver o filho em uma passeata contra o sistema vigente. Quando ela acorda do coma, ap\u00f3s a queda do muro de Berlim, o m\u00e9dico aconselha a Alexander que ela evite emo\u00e7\u00f5es fortes, pois outro ataque t\u00e3o cedo seria fatal. Com o peso na consci\u00eancia pelo estado atual de sua\u00a0m\u00e3e, Alex faz de tudo para que ela continue vivendo em uma ilus\u00f3ria Alemanha socialista, mudando embalagens de\u00a0produtos\u00a0industrializados e at\u00e9 mesmo inventando\u00a0document\u00e1rios\u00a0televisivos para preencher as brechas do dia-a-dia do recente capitalismo no pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n
