In addition to the permanent exhibition, the project is also to hold periodic exhibitions on specific themes related to the Peninsula and its transformation today, promoting, for example, photographic competitions, debates, reports from old and new residents, among other possibilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>[vc_empty_space]<div class=\"last-paragraph-no-margin\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><h6><em><strong>MORE ABOUT O ME.PE.<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In May 2014, the ICBIE inaugurated a new\u00a0<\/span><b>element<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0to its \u201ccultural building\u201d: the project \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ME.PE<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u2013 MEm\u00f3rias da PEn\u00ednsula\u201d (Memories of the Peninsula), an exhibition space and a large laboratory that opens\u00a0<\/span>a<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0narration about the history of the Itapagipe Peninsula, in the lower city of Salvador.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This collection,\u00a0<\/span><b>mainly\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">made up of\u00a0photographic\u00a0<\/span><b>records, began with<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0the personal research of the ICBIE\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><b>founder and\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">artistic director, Pietro Gallina, but it\u00a0<\/span><b>was<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0assembled collaboratively as part of a strategy\u00a0<\/span><b>aiming\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to\u00a0<\/span><b>instigate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and encourage the participation of the residents in the construction of this project, giving them the possibility of discussing their history through their memories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<em>\u201cI believe that curating this collection is very important for our community, because its versatility allows it to be used by various audiences, from researchers to tourists interested in a deeper and more qualitative experience of our culture\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pietro Gallina, curator of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ME.PE<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><b>founder of the\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICBIE \u2013 Institute of Culture Brazil Italy Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ME.PE<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. is to become a place that stimulates the knowledge of one\u2019s own territory, aimed at the local community,\u00a0<\/span><b>to instill a\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">love for their land and to\u00a0<\/span><b>raise an awareness\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the Peninsula<\/span><b>\u2019s history,<\/b><strong>\u00a0thereby <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">involving\u00a0<\/span><b>them\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in\u00a0<\/span><b>its\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">defense, improvement and respect, by<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">participating in cultural,\u00a0<\/span><b>touristic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and sports activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since August 25, 2024, the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ME.PE<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0space has revived its purpose by bringing more color and movement, in partnership with ATELI\u00ca POMAR, created and managed by the artist, G\u00e9ssica Lima, since December 2020, which as the name suggests, is a plot of fruit trees and which will contribute with workshops\u00a0<\/span><b>and\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">artistic, musical, poetic and literary meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A space where visitors will find creation and exhibition in the same place, understanding and learning about a past full of rich memories and writing new stories, starting from the here and now.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-4  col-xs-mobile-fullwidth\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner \"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">[vc_empty_space height=&#8221;64px&#8221;][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/youtube.com\/shorts\/CJl7ERgP8KQ&#8221; From the 1950s until 1964, the ICBIE mansion was the headquarters of E.C.
