This past Sunday, September 18, the ICBIE closed yet another program related to the ICBIE project – Ponto de Cultura da Ribeira. In 2021 the ICBIE was awarded a prize, through the Aldir Blanc Program, to hold events in hybrid format, between film screenings (in person) and online lectures.
The last of these events was dedicated to gastronomy and on Sunday, as a closing, a lecture was presented by Valeria Pereira, historian and translator, invited from Belo Horizonte, who captured the public’s attention by narrating a little of the birth of the gastronomic culture, the evolution of taste and flavor, through scenes from the movie “Babette’s Feast”. Soon afterwards the guests of the event could literally put their “hands in the dough”, guided by the instructions of Keziah Menezes, also from Belo Horizonte, on how to prepare a real Italian pasta.
To conclude the evening, the public occupied the main hall of the ICBIE’s main building, in front of the Library, to taste the delicious pasta “al sugo di carne” and “alla amatriciana”, prepared by Keziah, assisted by our dear Dona Lu.
Although we tangibly felt the absence of our dear artistic director and excellent cook, Pietro Gallina, the evening was a pleasure filled with lively, rich conversations and pleasures of the palate.
Let the next projects and events come!
