On Thursday night the ICBIE hosted the inauguration of the Theater-Mask-Ritual Festival, which continues in Salvador for the rest of the month of July. Led by our friends Veronica and Francesca from the group Bottega Buffa CircoVacanti in Trento, together with Joyce from Cia Buffa de Teatro here in Salvador, the evening began with a presentation by Marcella and the three ladies, before the doors were opened to the exposition of ritual masks and a photo exhibition. To animate the event, Francesca played the accordion and piano and our new volunteer Silvia joined her for a few brilliant four-hand performances of pieces by Mozart and Debussy.
Last night, for the second part of the festival, the ICBIE Cineforum altered its programming, inserting Ettore Scola’s film Il Viaggio di Capitan Fracassa. the delightful story of a 16th century traveling theater troupe, and tonight the ICBIE is hosting a full-blown performance, Chimici Comici Alchemici, an Italo-Brazilian tribute to the glorious tradition of the Commedia dell’Arte.
